As international Caribbean students, foreign workers and permanent residents in Canada, it's important to note the location of your relative Consulate General or High Commissioner's offices. 

 

These are foreign government offices located here in Canada, who are representatives of your native islands and territories there to help protect you as a citizen from said island(s) and territories, as well as provide you with certain services you would normally do back home. 

 

• For example, you may need to pop in to do a passport renewal if yours is expiring while you're still abroad and/or in the middle of your studies.

 

• If you have a driver's license back home, the Consulate General's office would also be where you go to confirm your year(s) of driving experience to cut down on the process of attaining a Driver's license in Ontario.

• If you're a national scholar, and received a scholarship from your island's government, payments are usually processed and sent through these abroad government offices to your university or college.

 

• Some locations even have a registry list for foreign locals of your native country in Canada. This can be very useful in the case of an emergency where someone back home may need to be contacted.
